Store of the future

Lotus United worked with Lululemon to create an innovative “store of the future.” By elevating the in-store shopping experience with strategic touch-points, interactive displays, and even a “party table” in the fitting room area, the essence of the Lululemon is felt by each guest.

Lululemon’s custom “flow” hang bar system is used at the Santana Row location in San Jose, California, as well as at the the Hudson Yards location on The High Line in New York City.

The Brief

Lululemon's brand experience wasn't fully translating to the floor at their flagship locations. The existing store format treated retail as a transaction rather than as an extension of the Lululemon community and lifestyle. They needed a store-of-the-future concept that elevated touchpoints, prioritized interaction, and made the brand felt the moment a guest walked in, without losing the operational discipline a multi-location rollout demands.

The Story

The fastest path to making the brand felt wasn't more square footage or bigger fixtures. It was redesigning the journey through a small number of high-leverage touchpoints. The fitting room, the hang system, and a few targeted interactive moments would do more for brand perception than overhauling every wall and floor.

The Solution

Lotus partnered with Lululemon to design and build the store-of-the-future concept end to end. We engineered a custom flow hang bar system that became the signature merchandising element, installed across Santana Row in San Jose and Hudson Yards on the High Line in New York City. The fitting room area was reimagined around a party table that turned a typically transactional moment into a community touchpoint. Each location was delivered from conceptual design through manufacturing, logistics, and installation.

The Result

The store-of-the-future concept rolled out to two of Lululemon's most strategically important locations: Santana Row and Hudson Yards. The custom flow hang bar and interactive fitting room touchpoints became repeatable design elements Lululemon can apply to future locations as the concept expands.
