Stepping into the new Selkirk flagship store feels like walking into the perfect blend of a high-performance sports facility and a warm, family-owned business - exactly the experience we aimed to create when we took on this exciting design project. If you're into pickleball, you know Selkirk as the premier made-in-USA paddle manufacturer that's been revolutionizing the game since 2014.

From sketching the initial store layout to crafting custom fixture elements, we partnered with Selkirk to build a space that would become a hub for the pickleball community in Boise.

Look & Feel

Our vision for the space centered on a modern industrial aesthetic with unexpected touches of warmth. We selected materials that tell the Selkirk story—performance-focused elements like concrete floors and metal fixtures balanced with natural wood slat features and strategic lighting. The signature Selkirk red appears as carefully placed accents, creating energy and visual interest throughout the store.

Key Design Elements

Paddle Display Wall

One of our favorite elements was designing the paddle display wall. We created a custom black powdercoated pegboard system with interchangeable paddle pegs and magnetic laminate graphics for seasonal campaigns. This allows the store to easily update their displays while maintaining a consistent look and feel.

Indoor Pickleball Court

The store's pickleball court is more than just a showpiece—it's a functional testing area where customers can try out paddles before purchasing. We designed a red and gray court with Selkirk branding that serves as both a visual anchor for the space and a practical demonstration area.

Custom Fixture Highlights

Pickleball Sandwich Display

One of our most unique creations is the pickleball sandwich—hundreds of vibrant pickleballs contained between clear acrylic panels with the Selkirk logo silkscreened on the front. This eye-catching display serves as both art installation and brand statement.

Caged Pedestals‍

We designed wire form pedestals that can be filled with pickleballs or used to display featured products on wooden tops, offering versatility and visual interest.

Paddle Holders

Our custom angled wire form paddle holders allow for dynamic product presentation throughout the store, with a 60-degree display angle that showcases the paddles' distinctive designs.

Building It Right

With designs finalized, we transitioned from conceptual sketches to the manufacturing of each custom element.

We fabricated all the custom fixtures for the store, handling everything from precision welding of the metal display elements to careful finishing of each component. Quality control was a top priority throughout production.

From Concept to Reality

The transformation from design renderings to finished store involved many moving parts. After our design team finalized the plans and our manufacturing team completed the custom fixtures, we worked closely with Selkirk's team during the implementation phase.

While the installation was managed by their construction team, we remained involved throughout the process, providing guidance and making adjustments as needed.

Grand Opening Celebration

The Selkirk Sport Pro Shop, located at 3230 N. Eagle Rd., Ste. 110 in Meridian, Idaho, officially opened its doors on April 3, 2025, with a grand opening celebration held on Saturday, April 12.

The grand opening celebration was a resounding success, with hundreds of pickleball enthusiasts gathering to experience the new space. The event featured food, live court activations, giveaways, product discounts, and prize drawings throughout the day.
